A Crack On The Road

When I first came to Chicago everybody warn me that Chicago's all about 2 things - "Winter & Construction". Since the former is a natural phenomena that can't be avoided, I decided to just worry about construction then.

Every day there's traffic and it's because of construction on the Eisenhower, local routes ... basically everywhere. I guess the only time you can mend the road would be off winter season.

I admit I was quite curious as to why construction happens year after year? Does the Illinois government really have so much money to do construction? I can't remember there were any construction the last 3 years I was in California .. LOL

Finally, i found my answer. Day after day I drove the same route to work. Day after day I pass the same road with a huge crack. And every day every car tries to avoid it. And then there was construction (surprise surprise .. LOL) .... It took the construction workers to work on it for a few weeks. And then the cracked was gone. The road was all smooth and shiny :)

Fast forward two months later, today, I just realized there was a tiny crack on spot where the huge crack used to be. By now, most of you would say, "oh well, it's the reality of life. Even if you don't see the crack, but the crack will always be there." I totally agree. But what I learn today was even though there is a crack, we shouldn't just let it be. Like the construction, we should mend it even if it takes year after year to mend the same crack. If one commits into a relationship, even if the relationship crack, one should work hard on constructing and reconstructing for nothing is perfect -(just like the crack on the road).
